Saturday 3rd May 2014 - Holt Lodge Hotel, Wrexham, North Wales.
I got to meet Lee & Alex at a wedding fayre last year when they were looking at local photographers to capture their wedding. I was delighted to have been asked, and got to know the family further when we did a pre-wedding shoot at Alyn Waters in Wrexham back in March too.
Lancashire-lass Alex met Wrexham born Lee in Chester and are a wonderful couple. It also turned out that Lee was a goalkeeper in the local leagues (like I used to be!).
On the wedding day, I arrived at the hotel to meet Alex who was very laid back just after lunch and captured her and her bridesmaid’s preparing for the ceremony downstairs. Lee actually looked the more tense, although with plenty of friends & family in the bar - he was fine!
Holt Lodge is a picturesque venue just outside Wrexham - with a beautiful Garden Lounge where the ceremony was held and scenic lawns for capturing the photographs on outside.
Overall, it was a super day and I’ll let the photographs tell the story in more detail…
Thursday 27th March 2014 - St James’ Parish Church, Ince (nr Ellesmere Port) & The Grosvenor Pulford Hotel & Spa, Chester.
My first wedding shoot of 2014 started with Jayson & Sian’s wedding at St James’ Parish Church in Ince, near Ellesmere Port followed by a reception at the beautiful Grosvenor Pulford Hotel, just outside Chester.
It was way back in July 2012 when I first met up with Jayson & Sian (at Costa Coffee on the M56 services!) to chat about their wedding photography. At the time, we laughed about how far away the date seemed – but the speed at which it came around surprised us all!
Despite being a Man Unt fan, Jayson is a great lad and I got on well with Sian and him from the start.
Sian had asked me to capture the bridal preparations at her Mum’s house on the morning, so as you’ll see from the photos – the atmosphere in the house was one of laughter from the minute I arrived (and earlier no doubt!). I had a couple of hours there, before walking the short distance around to the Church to meet up with Jayson and his Groomsmen.
The service was beautiful and the rain stayed off – enabling us to get some great shots outside before heading off to the Grosvenor Pulford. As a wedding photographer – working at a stunning venue like the Grosvenor is always a joy, and we had 20-30 minutes getting some individual and group shots by the lake and in the amazing Oriental Gardens.
I’ll let the photos (below) take you through the day…..enjoy.
Joe Bickerton is a professional photographer based in Wirral, Merseyside, and has been shooting weddings in the North West of England and North Wales since 2009. Prior to finding bOnline, Joe had never had a website for his growing business. He said “I’d survived off using social media and a free blogsite – but as my business started to grow, I decided that a website would give me more creativity to showcase my work, pricing and contact details etc.”
After doing some research online, Joe decided to build a DIY site using bOnline’s easy website builder. He said “I did a review of most of the major online website building companies. Some looked appealing and the packages were roughly comparable, but I’d heard whispers of poor customer service, difficult contracts and so on.”
Joe spent time using the editing tools to customise his website so it reflected his business in the best way. “I took my time setting up the site with different layouts and I asked friends to critically review it, until I felt it was just right.”
As with all bOnline websites, Joe’s new business website came with SEO tools built-in, to optimise the site to be found on search engines. Joe commented “I was pretty impressed with the SEO support offered by bOnline too – as my work area is pretty competitive!”
Joe’s photography website was launched in January 2014, and has already attracted customers. Joe said: “Typically, my previous bookings had all been via word of mouth, recommendations and social media – but already I’ve had bookings based on hits on my website.”
Joe also said he would recommend a website to other photographers: “As your business grows – even if you’re not commercial – it’s an excellent investment to just showcase your work and raise your profile.”
Overall, Joe commented that the DIY package was the right choice for his business website: “For just over £10 per month the bOnline package offers good value – and the online support, stability, hosting and creative control I have is excellent.”
7th September 2013 - St. Matthews Church, Stretton and Comberbach, Northwich, UK.
David & Jo asked me to capture their wedding earlier this year - and I was really excited about this one as it featured tipi’s! Their wedding was very traditional, in Jo’s family parish church before we headed off to her parents farm where @elite_tents had erected a fabulous tipi - big enough to hold (and keep warm!) all 130 guests!
Here are a selection of photos from their special day….

Toby Berry (aged 3-months). More to follow…..!
The Wilson’s - March 2013
I was recently asked to do some family pictures for some of my wider family who have had a number of additions over the last few years! Capturing family portraits whilst children are young is a fun and rewarding experience - and provide some great evidence to show them on their 18th birthday!
The whole shoot took just over an hour and was enjoyed by all. I am not studio based - I bring the set to you. We can do portrait sessions indoor or outdoor (weather depending!) and they cost £50 per hour. You will receive all high-res images on a CD and a private online gallery.
CLARE & DAN: Pre-wedding shoot - sneak peak…. 26th January 2013
Had a fantastic morning (albeit a little chilly!) working with Clare & Dan on their pre-wedding shoot. Typically, as the photographer I got a soaking in the slush after last night’s snow - but trainers can dry! These are just a couple of photos - the bride & groom (to be) get first look at the rest!
Pre-wedding shoots are a great way to get some really intimate pictures. They come as part of my gold package - or if you just want one seperately, it is £50 and usually takes around an hour!
